The installer must check and ensure, by contacting his local Council Planning Office, that the installation does or does not require
Planning Permission and that the installation is not being installed in a Smoke Control Area (for further details see http://smokecontrol.

The Building Regulation Notification has to be completed prior to handing over the installation. Self-certification, in lieu of building control
approval, is only permitted where installation and commissioning is undertaken by a person deemed competent and registered with a
Competent Persons Scheme (CPS) approved by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) for the scope of work
