RadioDataSystem(RDS)Operation
The Radio Data System (RDS) simultaneously transmits digital data along with the
audio signal on FM radio. Although RDS is a European standard, it is also used in
the USA, where it is called Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS). RDS enables traffic
reports to be received and provides many facilities, including enabling the radio
station name and program information to be displayed on the display panel.
To Use Program Type (PTY) to Select Programs:
1. Press the
PTY
button once to select the PTY group.
2. Rotate the volume knob to select the PTY program.
3. Press the
button or button to search. “PTY SEEK” appears in the display
panel. The unit searches for the respective stations and stops when a station is
found.
Note: “PTY NONE” appears in the display panel if a station is not found.
4. With PTY ON, press the
PTY
button again to cancel the PTY function.
To Listen to Traffic Announcements:
1. Press and hold the
EQ
button. “TA” and “SEARCH” appears in the display panel.
The unit will search for Traffic Announcements automatically. After the end of
the traffic announcement the initial operating mode will be restored.
2. Press and hold the
EQ
button again to exit TA mode.
