Jeep Compass
Towing/lifting the vehicle
Cars with integrated key
Turn the ignition key to RUN and then to OFF/LOCK without
removing it. Extracting the key causes the steering lock to engage
automatically. Put the transmission to N (neutral).
Cars with Keyless Enter-N-Go system
Turn the ignition device to RUN and then to OFF/LOCK without
opening the door. While towing, remember that when the brake
booster and the electro-mechanical power steering are not
available, more pressure must be applied on the brakes and that
more force is needed to steer the
car.
IMPORTANT!
•
Do not use a chain to free a broken-down car. The chains could
brake causing serious injury or fatal accidents.
•
Stay clear of the towing and towed cars if they are connected
on the towing hooks. The towing belts may disconnect causing
serious injury.
IMPORTANT
The tow hooks must only be used in emergencies to recover the car
if it is off the road. Do not use the towing hooks for towing with
breakdown truck or on motorways. The car may be damaged.
Using the towing attachment
The car is equipped with a towing attachment which can be used to
move a broken-down car.
If a towing attachment is used, make sure to follow the instructions
in "Precautions for using the towing attachment" and "Towing the
broken-down car" in this section.
