Step 4: Wiring output jack and string ground
In the next step the output socket (12) can be mounted and wired. To do this push the socket without nuts
and washers through the hole provided behind the tone potentiometers and secure it from the front with
the appropriate washer (12B) and fixing nut (12A). To wire the output socket
correctly to the electronics, the signal carrying cable from the switch must be soldered to the tip contact of
the socket and the earth cable to the sleeve contact of the socket (see illustration).
An additional earth cable is used to connect to the lower stud of the Stopbar to include the string ground in
the circuit and effectively eliminate unwanted noise. To do this, run the black cable soldered to one of the
volume potentiometers through the channel drilled in step 1 from the electric compartment to the hole for
the bolt and ensure that the wire is in direct conact with the drive-in sleeve as soon as it is fitted.
