CAUTION
11. Rotate the bearing housing (4) up, so that the
shoulder bolt (10) is at the top of the adjustment slot
(11), and remove the shoulder bolt from the bearing
housing (4) and cutting unit frame (6).
12. Remove lock nut (7), screw (1), pivot bushing (2), and
wave washer (3) from the bearing housing (4) and
cutting unit frame (6).
13. Remove the bearing housing (4).
14. Remove oil seal (27) and washer (28) from the
bearing housing (4).
15. Inspect all parts for wear or damage. Replace parts
as needed.
Installation Notes
• Install the bearing housing by reversing the order of
removal.
• Install a new oil seal (27) during installation.
• Use a new gasket (17) during installation.
• Apply grease to bearing before installation. (Refer to
“Safety, Operation, and Maintenance Manual” for
grease specifications.)
• Adjust the bedknife-to-reel contact. (Refer to “Safety,
Operation, and Maintenance Manual”.)
Reel Blade
Removal, Inspection, and Installation
1.
Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-7.)
2.
Remove bedknife shoe assembly. (See “Bedknife
Shoe” on page 8-36.)
3.
Remove the non-drive side bearing housing. (See
“Removal and Installation—Non-Drive Side” on
page 8-40.)
4.
Remove the drive side bearing housing assembly.
(See “Removal and Installation—Drive Side” on
page 8-38.)

NOTE
The tie bar may be on either side of the cutting unit.
5.
Remove two socket-head cap screws (1) and
washers (2), and remove skid (3) from the side of the
cutting unit with the tie bar (4).
6.
Remove four screws (7) and washers (8), and
remove tie bar (4) from the cutting unit frame (5).

CAUTION

Remove the reel (6).
Installation Notes
• Install the reel by reversing the order of removal.
• Adjust the bedknife-to-reel contact. (Refer to “Safety,
Operation, and Maintenance Manual”.)
To prevent personal injury, use caution when
working near the reel.
To prevent personal injury and damage to the
cutting edges, handle the reel with extreme care.
