Wiring
Overview
The Modbus to Discrete converter connects and is powered by the GridBee controller via a serial cable connected to the
DB9 RS-232 serial port. The converter queries the controller and translates the data to the discrete outputs. The motor
RPM is also displayed on a two-digit display screen during normal operation and a visual status code when a fault exists.
Three discrete, open collector outputs are available at OC Outputs 1 through 3. OC Output 1 indicates a revolution of the
GridBee impeller. OC Output 2 indicates the direction of the GridBee impeller rotation. OC Output 3 indicates the success
of the last communication attempt between the Modbus Master module and digital controller (See the output definitions
below). The GridBee system status outputs will also indicate if there is a problem with one of the controller subsystems. If
a failure is indicated, please reference troubleshooting section of the GridBee O&M and call Ixom Watercare, Inc.
