4. After installing the CPU you may need to apply the Thermal Interface Material (TIM) to the
top of the installed CPU (Fig. 2). The TIM is supplied in an applicator with the boxed Pentium
4 processors. The TIM secures the Fan/Heatsink to the CPU. However, if the Fan/Heatsink
already has a patch of TIM on its underside, you won’t need to apply additional TIM to the
CPU (Fig. 1).
