Procedure
1. Using the t a b l e on page 9 o f t h e
o p e r a t o r ' s manual, s e t t h e
o u t p u t l e v e l of t h e t o 10 An a t t e n u a t o r s e t t i n g o f 40
dB w i l l p r o v i d e a 9.4 s i g n a l .
2. I n i t i a l l y s e t the switches on t h e as shown. Display r e s o l u t i o n
i s s e t t o 2 dB per step f o r t h i s example.

Set t h e d e t e c t o r s i n t h e p i n k n o i s e averaging mode. This i s
accomplished by moving t h e MODE s w i t c h t o t h e C f i l t e r p o s i t i o n and
t h e n back t o OCT.
4. Using t h e p a t c h cable provided, c o n n e c t t h e o u t p u t t o t h e
i n p u t as shown. The s i g n a l from t h e should appear a t
t h e l i n e on the (2 dB p e r s t e p s c a l e ) . N o t i c e t h a t
t h e s i g n a l was purposely d i s p l a y e d n e a r t h e bottom o f t h e screen
because t h e s i g n a l gain from t h e i f i e r w i cause t h e d i s p l a y
t o r i s e .
