Battery Storage and Charging
Roomba is powered by a Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH)
rechargeable battery. Roomba’s battery can last for hundreds
of cleaning cycles before a replacement is necessary.
Battery life
To avoid rapid deterioration of battery life, we recommend storing Roomba’s
battery in the robot with the power supply plugged in, or with Roomba on
the Home Base. Permanent damage can be caused to the battery if left
uncharged after being run down by a full cleaning cycle.
Charge Roomba’s battery overnight before first use. You should fully
charge Roomba’s battery before each cleaning cycle. Cleaning time is
dependent on floor surface, temperature, and battery life and will vary.
1 Hour refresh Charge
When charging for the first time, or if Roomba has been left off the charger
for a long time, Roomba will initiate a special 16-hour charge cycle. This
extended charge refreshes Roomba’s battery and extends the life of
the battery.
TIP: Keep the battery charging at all times unless in use. If roomba is
not going to be used for an extended period of time, charge battery
first and then take the battery out of roomba and store it separately in
a cool place.
