Adjusting the Propel Back Width
NOTE:
For
this
procedure,
refer
to
FIGURE
2.4.
1. Remove
the
cushion
from
the
back
frame.
Refer
to
Installing/Removing
the
Propel
Back
Cushion
on
page 13.
2. Loosen,
but
DO
NOT
remove,
the
two
mounting
bolts
and
washers
that
secure
the
cane
mounting
bracket
to
the
back
frame.
3. Move
the
cane
mounting
brackets
to
the
desired
position.
NOTE:
Keep
the
back
frame
centered
for
proper
positioning.
4. Carefully
set
the
back
onto
the
back
tabs.
5. Adjust
the
mounting
brackets
on
both
sides
for
desired
fit
keeping
back
centered.
6. Tighten
the
mounting
bolts
securely.
7. Replace
the
cushion.

8. Check
the
back
height,
adjust
cane
mounting
bracket
if
necessary.
Refer
to
Installing
Mounting
Hardware
on
page 9.
NOTE:
Most
wheelchairs’
back
canes
are
not
fully
vertical.
Adjust
the
width
of
the
brackets
on
the
back
frame
to
match.
If
the
Propel
Back
seems
too
loose
or
too
tight,
the
brackets
can
be
manually
adjusted
to
increase
or
decrease
the
amount
of
effort
required
to
install
or
remove
the
back
from
the
chair.
This
adjustment
may
also
be
used
to
reduce
back
noise
caused
by
movement
in
the
wheelchair.
