Virtual IP failover
An option available to clustered Intel
NetStructure Cache Appliances, where the
appliance maintains a pool of virtual IP
addresses that it assigns to the nodes of a
cluster. If a node fails, the remaining nodes
mask the fault and take over the failed node’s
virtual interface.
WCCP
Web Cache Control Protocol. A protocol used
by Cisco IOS-based routers to redirect traffic
during transparent proxy caching.
Web proxy server
Forwards client requests to Origin servers. The
proxy server may deny requests according to
filter rules or security limitations.
Web server
A computer that provides World Wide Web
services on the Internet. See also Origin server.
WPAD
Web Proxy Auto-Discovery. A protocol that
allows clients to automatically locate a web
proxy, providing the benefits of a proxy
without the need for explicit client
configuration.
