Troubleshooting Guide

This section provides a list of commonly encountered problems, their possible causes and solutions.

Problem

SABRE™ I fails to turn on,
or functions
intermittently when
powered by the battery.

Possible Cause

Turn on SABRE™ I using the power from the mains via the
power adapter. Proceed on with the following steps only
i f   S A B R E ™   I   c o u l d   b e   t u r n e d   o n   s u c c e s s f u l l y.

The internal battery needs
recharging.

The internal battery is not
inserted properly.

T h e   i n t e r n a l   b a t t e r y
c o n t a c t s   a r e   d i r t y   o r
damaged.

Extended GPS position
acquisition time. (Up to 10
minutes.)

Presence of obstructions
between SABRE™ I and the
Satellite.

Window glass reduces the
signal strength of the
incoming and outgoing
satellite signal.

The antenna is not aligned
in the direction of the
Satellite.

C h a r g e   t h e   i n t e r n a l
battery. Check the level of
the battery indicator in the
display.

Re - i n s e r t   t h e   i n t e r n a l
battery and make sure that
the internal batter y is
inserted properly.

Clean the internal battery
c o n t a c t s   i f   n e c e s s a r y.
R e p l a c e   t h e   i n t e r n a l
battery if the contacts are
damaged.

 Point SABRE™ I’s antenna
such that it has clear view to
the open sky.

If SABRE™ I is placed at an
unobstructed open area,
then it is recommended to
make it lay flat facing the sky
to obtain GPS fix quickly. If
SABRE™ I is placed near
window, then it is
recommended to place it at
about 45 elevation angle
facing the clear sky to obtain
a new GPS fix

Ensure that there are no
o b s t r u c t i o n s   b e t w e e n
SABRE™ I and the BGAN
Satellite.
