5  Operation

To switch on the receiver, keep the button
POWER (7) pressed until the displays (4) light
up  To switch off the receiver, keep the button
pressed until OFF appears on the displays
The receiver consists of two identical receiver
units (RECEIVER 1 and 2) which are operated
separately

5.1  Setting the transmission channels

To set a free transmission channel at a receiver
unit, either use the automatic scan function or
set the channel manually  Then simply press a
button to set the transmitter via an IR signal
to the channel of the receiver unit
Make the following settings separately for each
receiver unit:
1)  Leave the corresponding transmitter

switched off for the time being so that a
free transmission channel can be found

2)

To automatically scan

 a channel, keep the

button SYNC (3) pressed until the display
lights up in red and the indicator segments
of the numerals for FREQUENCY start ro-
tating  As soon as a free channel has been
found, the display will light up in white
again and the channel number (CH) and
the frequency (FREQUENCY) in MHz will
be indicated

To manually set

 a channel, press the

button SET (6) once; the channel number
(CH) will start flashing on the display  While
the number keeps flashing (for a few sec-
onds after the button SET,

 or

 has been

pressed), set the channel with the button

or

 (5)  The setting will be saved as soon

as the number stops flashing

 Note:

If the number stops flashing before the set-

ting has been made, press the button SET again

3)  If the antenna symbol   lights up on the

display when the transmitter is still switched
off, interference signals or signals from an-
other wireless system are being received  In
this case, set a different channel

4)  Switch on the transmitter and point the in-

frared sensor of the transmitter towards the
IR window (2) of the receiver (see instruction
manual of the transmitter, if required)  The
distance must not exceed 1 m  Make sure
that there are no obstacles between the
sensor and the IR window

Briefly press the button SYNC (3)  The

symbol

IR

will appear on the display while

data is being transferred  The transmitter
and the receiver unit will be set to the same
channel as soon as the backlight of the dis-
play is activated

5)  Once the receiver unit and the transmitter

have been set to the same transmission
channel, the antenna symbol   will light

up on the display of the receiver unit  If it
fails to light up, check the following:

a) Are the batteries of the transmitter dis-

charged?

b) Is the reception disturbed by metal ob-

jects in the transmission path?

c)  Is it possible to improve the reception by

turning the receiving antennas?

d) Is the distance between the receiver and

the transmitter too long?

e) Is the threshold value for interference

suppression too high? (See chapter 5 2 )

5.2  Setting the interference suppression

(squelch)

The threshold value for the interference sup-
pression can be set separately for each receiver
unit  The interference suppression will mute
the receiver unit in speech /music pauses when
interfering signals are received and the levels
of these signals are below the threshold value
set  A high threshold value, however, will re-
duce the transmission range of the microphone
system as the receiver unit will also be muted
when the strength of the radio signal falls
below the threshold value set  Therefore, set
a high threshold value when the reception is
good and a low value when there is a long dis-
tance between the transmitter and the receiver
1)  Press the button SET (6) twice; the arrow

for the scale SQ will start flashing

2)  While the arrow keeps flashing (for a few

seconds after the button SET,

 or

 was

pressed), set the threshold value with the
button

 or

 (5)  The threshold value

will be saved as soon as the arrow stops
flashing

 Note:

If the arrow stops flashing before the set-

ting has been made, press the button SET twice
again

5.3  Setting the mixing ratio

The mixed signal of the two receiver units is
available at the jack SUM OUT (12)  For each
receiver unit, the level at which the microphone
signal received is sent to the jack SUM OUT can
be set separately  Thus, it is possible to mix the
two microphone signals of the receiver units in
the desired volume ratio  In order to match the
output level of the jack SUM OUT to the input
of the subsequent device, first make the setting
for the receiver unit whose microphone signal
is to be heard louder  Then add the microphone
signal of the other receiver unit
1)  Press the button SET (6) three times; the

numerals in the upper right for VOL will
start flashing

2)  Speak   /  Sing  into  the  microphone  and,  while

the numerals keep flashing (for a few sec-
onds after the button SET,

 or

 was

pressed), set the level (setting range 00 – 63)

with the button

 or

 (5)  The setting

will be saved as soon as the numerals stop
flashing

 Note:

If the numerals stop flashing before the

setting has been made, press the button SET three
times again

5.4  Keylock

Each receiver unit is provided with a keylock
to prevent inadvertent operation  Even with an
activated keylock, it is still possible to switch
the device on and off
1)  To activate the keylock, keep the button

SET (6) pressed for approx  2 seconds until
the display lights up in red  The buttons are
locked (symbol   on the display)

2)  To deactivate the lock, keep the button SET

pressed for approx  2 seconds again until
the display lights up in white again  The
buttons are unlocked (symbol  )
