Opening the Housing
Lid Snaps have a
Lock
. To open, push Lid Snap
Lock forward and lift as shown. Keep pressure
on the Lid Snap so it does not fly open quickly.
Lid Snaps have a lot of spring tension once they
go over center, so have a firm grip on the Lid
Snap. Lid Snaps may be opened one at a time.

Initial Camera Setup
(before placing camera in housing)
- Insert a fully charged battery.
- Insert a high capacity SD or Compact Flash memory card.
- Set the Shooting Mode to “A” Aperture or “M” manual for shutter speeds
faster than 1/60th second.
- Set Time Zone and Date.
- Set ISO sensitivity to “200” and Meter to “Center-weighted.”
- In “M” Manual, set shutter speed to 1/60th second or 1/125th second for
fast moving subjects. Maximum shutter speed of 1/250th second
recommended to allow full power flashes from strobes.
- Set aperture to F8 for general photography or F22 for close-ups.
- Set Image Quality to “JPEG fine.”
- Set Active D-Lighting, HDR, Auto Distortion, and Long Exposure to “Off.”
- Set Multiple exposure and Interval timer shooting to “Off.”
- Set Focus mode to “AF-S.”
- Set White Balance to “Auto1.” Use Preset Manual for best results and
reset for each working depth.
- In Custom Shooting menu bank A, set AF-assist illuminator to “Off.”
- Make sure Red-Eye Reduction is “Off.”
* These initial camera settings are a good starting point for shooting most
underwater photos. Adjustments may be needed based on the shooting
environment and lighting conditions . Camera functions not mentioned
should be set to the shooters preference.
