Building Guidance Bell UH-1D
The original Bell UH-1D, also called “Carpet XXX” was a multi
purpose helicopter. They have been built in high quantities
and an 1100 HP Lycoming engine was used for power.
The scale body for the ECO Piccolo, at 1:22 scale. Due to the
lightweight body, flight time is a little shorter then with the
original trainer body. This body positively influences flight
stability and style. (But leave the tail horizontal surfaces off
for flight)

You can assemble the Piccolo chassis as described in the
Piccolo guide. Skip the skid assembly, main engine, tail rotor
and boom. Lengthen the two CF back legs at 27mm and glue
as described. ut the tail motors wires going through.
Mechanical preparation
One should go through these instructions to get a good view
on the complete construction.
Pls. take your time to read the instructions for the
glue used for the construction of your new flight object:
This glue needs to be kept away from
children. No contact should be allowed for children. It works
in seconds and glues skin and eyes. After eye-contact please
rinse carefully and see a doctor immediately. Do not use
with Styrofoam parts.
This is a contact type glue. Cover both surfaces
meant to be glued together as thinly as possible with the
glue and leave to try 10-60 minutes before carefully joining
Attention:
Cyanoacrylate glue:
UHU-Por:
Cut a 35mm long piece from the tail boom and glue as
described without the tail motors wires going through.
: De-solder
the wires from the tail motor, pull them out off the tail boom,
and then shorten the tail boom to leave 10 to 15 mm out of
the chassis. Cut away the front legs, and shorten the back
legs at 27mm.
Cut loose the tail rotor assembly from the tail boom.
Since the complete assembly will hang on the canopy holder
part nr 67380, this CF rod should be well glued and made
more solid with the CF wire and CA glue. The tail motors
wires must be made longer with the supplied cable
extensions to support the longer body. Isolate the soldering
with the supplied shrink tube. Now you can mount the
Tuning engine G-310 with the 9-tooth pinion.
For all the window and other cuts in the foam, a
very sharp knife is supplied in the kit. Please use this with
care.
Proof hold the two body halves together and verify their fit. If
necessary,
you can use fine sandpaper to make small
corrections. Warning! In order to become a perfect vertical
aligned model, the chassis will be mounted at a 3.5° angle to
the right. This way, the tail rotors torque, will be
compensated and the model will float vertical aligned. The
frames are for this reason NOT symmetrical and cannot be
exchanged from right to left in Building phases 1 and 7
In the case you use a used an existing chassis
