The
IKA
LR2000 system is a modular mini plant reactor system. It was designed and constructed for emulating and optimising che-
mical reaction processes and for mixing, dispersal and homogenising processes on a model scale.
Its working volume is 500 ml to 2000 ml.
Because the FFPM seals are highly durable the medium can be kept at a constant temperature of –10 °C to 230 °C.
Vacuum operation is possible up to 25 mbar (see “Accessories”).
By adapting the torque measuring instrument VK 600 control (see accessories) rheological material properties, flow and defor-
mation behaviour can be evaluated.
A wide range of different
IKA
laboratory equipment gives the user a choice of applications as well as matching them optimally
to specific requirements.
By linking it to the "Labworldsoft" laboratory software the user has a powerful system for measuring, controlling, regulating and
completely documenting at their disposal.
The reactor vessels LR 2000.1 and LR2000.2 may only be heated up without pressure through the double jacket
with thermostats or comparable heat sources and suitable liquids at constant temperature! Heating with other
heat sources is not permissible! Danger of cracking!
•
Check the appliance and accessories beforehand for damage each time you use them. Do not use damaged com-
ponents.
•
Protect the appliance and accessories from bumps and impacts.
•
When working at normal pressure the reactor system must always be vented so as to prevent an increase in pres-
sure from highly volatile gases or unknown pressure curve during the reaction. Condense volatile gases with a
cooler with a conical joint (e.g. return condenser) in the reactor lid.
•
Observe the permissible maximum and minimum temperatures of –10 °C to +230 °C in the reactor vessel! There
is a risk of burning and scalding by the hot reactor vessel or reactor lid! Wear safety gloves when handling hea-
ted parts.
•
Check that the thermostats for heating are working properly! A defective thermostat could cause the reaction to
proceed in an uncontrolled manner.
•
Before filling the reactor vessel make sure that the reagents used do not damage the FFPM seal.
•
The unit may only be used for its "intended use".
•
Removable parts must be refitted to the appliance to prevent the infiltration of foreign objects, liquids etc.
•
Only accessories and spare parts approved by
IKA
may be used.
•
The appliance may only be opened by experts.
•
Note when cleaning and servicing with an open reactor that falling parts could damage the reactor vessel. When
carrying our such work, always remove the anchor agitator and the dispersal tool first!
•
There may be electrostatic discharges between the medium and the dispersing/ stirring tool shaft which could pose
a direct danger.
•
The appliance is not suitable for manual operation.
•
Set up the stand in a spacious area on an even, stable, clean, non-slip, dry and fireproof surface.
•
nsure that the stand does not start to move.
•
The agitated vessels used for stirring have to be secured. Consider on a good stability of the entire structure.
•
ecure the stirring vessel against twisting.
•
Glass vessels must always be secured with a clamp to prevent them spinning. When working with flasks elastic
couplers must be used to prevent fracture of the glass.
•
Note the operating instructions of the dispersing/stirring tool and accessories.
•
Do not use the appliance without a dispersing/stirring element.
•
In the event of unbalance or unusual noises, switch off the appliance immediately. Replace the dispersing ele-
ment. If there is no difference after the change of the dispersing tool, return it to the dealer or the manufacturer
along with a description of the fault.
•
Please note that the device and the bearings can become extremely hot during use.
•
Do not cover the ventilation slots on the drive in order to ensure adequate cooling of the drive.
•
Only process media that will not react dangerously to the extra energy produced through processing. This also
applies to any extra energy produced in other ways, e.g. through light irradiation.
•
Abrasion of the device or the rotating accessories can get into the medium you are working on.
•
Safe operation is only guaranteed with the accessories described in the ”Accessories” chapter.
