In SurvCE setup like this:
A separate FAQ “T18_UsingInternalGPS_SurvCE” describes how to best configure SurvCE for use with
both the internal and an external survey grade receiver.
GPS Multiplexer
There is a ‘GPS Multiplexer shim’ that mirrors the hardware connection on COM 3 to virtual
connections on COM 5 and COM 8. We recommend that you connect to COM 3 directly. In our
testing COM 5 works, but SurvCE is forced to search for an attached receiver on every connection.
