The Quick Connect Kit is intended for use with the Filta-Max
®
Tubing Set (FMC 10301) and is a direct replacement for the Elution
Tube Base (PC 103009).
Description:
The Quick Connect Kit is designed to simplify the Filta-Max* procedure by eliminating the threading operation of both the Elution
(top) Tube and Concentrator (bottom) Tube to the Elution Tube Base. The Tubes attach to the new Elution Tube Base simply
by inserting in position and rotating clockwise 30°. The Tubes are held in a fixed position mechanically by a Spring Plunger.
Removing the Tubes is the reverse of the connecting procedure, where the Spring Plungers are pulled outward to disengage and
the Tubes are rotated 30° anti-clockwise.
After the filtration procedure, the Concentrator Tube can be used in the same manner as the existing Magnetic Stirrer Assembly,
except that the Magnetic Stirrer Assembly is simply placed on top of, rather than threaded onto, the Concentrator Tube. A new
longer Magnetic Stirrer Bar compensates for the change in length.
The cleaning procedure is the same as the existing Tubing Set.
Set-up Instructions:
1. After removing all the contents of the kit box, locate the two Ring Assemblies (Figure 3). Place one Ring on an Elution Tube,
and the other on a Concentrator Tube. These should be threaded on until they are securely on the Tubes. Position of the Ring
will be about 2 mm (0.078”) from the end of the tube
2. Locate the Magnetic Stirrer Bar in the Kit. With a screwdriver, remove the existing Magnetic Stirrer Bar and replace with the
new longer Magnetic Stirrer Bar (Figure 2). Use the screw provided in the kit. It is important that the screw be tightened to
the point that the Magnetic Stirrer is flush with the Stirrer Bar, but still spins around. There may be some resistance when the
screw is tightened; this is normal.
Installing the Ring/Tube Assembly to the Quick Connect
Elution Tube Base:
1. Position the Ring/Tube Assembly in the Elution Tube Base. Note that the two
pins protruding from the Ring enter the slots on the Elution Tube Base. When
the pins reach the bottom of the slot, turn the tube 30° Clockwise. The Spring
Plunger will “click” and lock the Ring/Tube Assembly into position.
Uninstalling the Ring/Tube Assembly from the Quick Connect
Elution Tube Base:
1. Pull the Spring Plunger outward while turning the Ring/Tube Assembly
anti-clockwise. Free the pins from the slot on the Elution Tube Base and
remove the Ring/Tube Assembly.
