There Is a Risk Assumed by Individuals W ho Use the 14" Gas Dust Director. To Minimize Risk You must Follow These Rules:
1.
INSPECT EQUIPMENT DAILY. Tighten all loose connections and replace worn parts immediately. Failure to do so may result in serious injury.
2.
When using the 14" GAS DUST DIRECTOR, exercise care to avoid injury. Perform your “cutting” at a smooth, moderate pace: never perform
jerky or uncoordinated movements that may cause injury.
3.
KEEP HANDS, FINGERS AND ALL BODY PARTS AWAY FROM BOTH CUTTING “EDGES”. DO NOT TOUCH THE 14" GAS DUST
DIRECTOR’s “HOUSING” while the BLADE IS MOVING. The spinning blade is extremely dangerous. It is your responsibility to observe all
safeguards when using the 14" GAS DUST DIRECTOR. A moment of inattention while operating the 14" GAS DUST DIRECTOR may result in
serious personal injury.
4.
WORK GLOVES REQUIRED. Hands become “sweaty”, work gloves help prevent your hands from accidental slippage into the spinning blade.
5.
If unsure of the proper use of the 14" GAS DUST DIRECTOR
, call your local
Dust Director
distributor or
Industrial Contractors Supplies
.
The Operator must Observe Safeguards That Include but Are Not Limited to the Following:
1.
Under no circumstances may the 14" GAS DUST DIRECTOR be modified from its original design, with out the permission of ICS in writing.
Non-authorized modifications can lead to serious injury or death to yourself or others.
2.
CAUTION: KEEP YOUR HAND AND FINGERS AWAY FROM THE 14" GAS DUST DIRECTOR’s
“HOUSING”. SERIOUS BODILY INJURY
WILL RESULT SHOULD THE EXPOSED BLADE CONTACT / CUT YOU.
3.
BEFORE CUTTING, always inspect areas for wires, cords, glass or other foreign objects which could come in contact with the blade.
4.
KEEP CHILDREN AWAY. All visitors should be kept at a safe distance from work area.
5.
Never use diamond blades that exceed the grinder’s maximum blade diameter rating. Never use diamond blades marked less than 6,000 RPM.
6.
Never service the 14" GAS DUST DIRECTOR
or change blades without first disconnecting the electrical power to the angle grinder.
7.
Always inspect the installed blade for damage before use - Make sure the 14" GAS DUST DIRECTOR and its blade are not damaged.
8.
Always check to be sure that the guard of the 14" GAS DUST DIRECTOR
is fitted securely onto the angle grinder properly before each use.
9.
Caution: Diamond Blade segments may break away from the blade itself
10.
ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES, FULL-FACE SHIELDS, SAFETY SHOES, WORK GLOVES, HEARING PROTECTION.
11.
DRESS PROPERLY - Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be caught in moving parts.
12.
Select the proper blade for the material being cut. Be sure that the blade and equipment arrows are facing in the same “direction”.
13.
Be sure that he diamond blade is correctly mounted and turns without wobbling. Never cut material for which the blade is not designed.
PROPER CUTTING TECHNIQUE
—
CUTTING WITH THE 14" GAS DUST DIRECTOR
1. Turn the cut-off saw and vacuum “on”. On a 45 degree angle,
ease the
Dust Director
into the material being cut, simultaneously
observe the dust stream coming out of the cut and lower or adjust
the
Dust Director
to catch the dust stream.
2. WALK AND CUT BACKWARDS. Once the blade has sunk to
the depth-of-cut, walk and cut backwards while observing the dust
stream. Always cut into the work surface. This is the only direction
acceptable for dustless cutting.
PHYSICS of DUSTLESS CONCRETE CUTTING:
Dust streams are created by a circular blade and it follows the direction of
the blade’s rotation. With a gas cut-off saw, the blade spins towards you. Likewise, as the dust follows the curve of the cut it
is directed towards you. If you walk forward to cut “the dust follows the cut” and it will go BENEATH the
Dust Director
.
OPTIMUM DUSTLESS CUTTING RESULTS:
Achieved by sinking the blade to the desired depth, walk backwards as you
cut, observe the dust stream as it exits from the curve of the cut, adjust the
Dust Director
accordingly to catch the dust stream.
USE THE CORRECT DIAMOND BLADE
. Dustless cutting is made with (1) pass of the blade. The “right” blade for the
material being cut will enable you to completely “sink” the blade into the material. If you find yourself making multiple passes
in order to obtain proper depth
you are using the wrong blade!
If you are experiencing a “bouncing” blade, insufficient blade life, or if you need a 3/8" or 1/2" wide blade, contact ICS for help
in selecting the right blade for your application. Beware of blade “kickback”. Allow the blade to cut freely, do not force the
blade to cut - there is no need too.
14" GAS
DUST DIRECTOR
NOT WORKING - DUST ESCAPING FROM THE GUARD
This is your signal that either the vacuum’s filters are clogged or its tank is full or your vacuum is not equipped to handle the volume of
dust that comes off the saw’s 14" diamond blade. LESSON TO NOTE: The
Dust Director’s
sole purpose is to “direct” the dust away from
the user. The purpose of the “vacuum” is to keep-up with the “powder” silica dust that the
Dust Director
“directs” into the vacuum.
Unsatisfactory Dustless Cutting is the result of the user either not using the
Dust Director
correctly, the vacuum’s filters are clogged with
dust, its tank is full or the vacuum does not have the correct “airflow” to handle the volume of dust from the saw’s 14" diamond blade.
