5. If you have other options to install or remove, do so now; otherwise, go to
“Completing the installation” on page 17.
Installing a hot-swap drive
Your server supports six 1-inch (26 mm) slim 3.5-inch low-voltage differential (LVD)
hard disk drives.
The following illustration shows how to install a hot-swap hard disk drive.
Filler panel
Drive-tray assembly
Drive handle
Complete the following steps to install a drive in a hot-swap bay.
Notes:
1. All hot-swap drives being used in the server should have the same throughput
speed rating. Mixing hard drives with different speed ratings will cause all drives
to operate at the lower throughput speed.
2. The SCSI ID assigned to each bay is printed on the bezel.
Attention:
To maintain proper system cooling, do not operate the server for more
than 10 minutes without either a drive or a filler panel installed in each bay.
1. Review the information in “Safety” on page v and “Installation guidelines” on
page 5.
2. Remove the filler panel.
3. Place the drive handle in the open position and slide the drive into the bay.
4. Close the drive handle.
