Chapter 4. Management platform requirements and
installation

The IBM XIV Storage System is managed using either the IBM XIV Storage System
GUI or the IBM XIV Command-Line Interface (XCLI). This chapter explains the
requirements for installing the IBM XIV Storage System GUI and XCLI interfaces
and introduces the installation procedures.

Platform requirements

These requirements are necessary to install an IBM XIV Storage System GUI
environment.

Table 13 lists the supported operating systems and the CPU level required for that
operating system.

A monitor with a minimum resolution of 1024

v

A color monitor with at least 24/32 true color (recommended)

Installing the IBM XIV Storage System GUI

Downloading

You can download the IBM XIV Storage System GUI installation package from the
following Web site:

www.ibm.com/systems/support/storage/xiv

Click on the

Download

link under Support and Downloads to display the

Downloadable files

link.

Follow the instructions for your operating system. Ensure that you select

XIV

Storage System (2810, 2812)

Download the GUI installation file. Double-click the file and follow

the instructions on the screen.
