TS3400 Tape Library Maintenance Information

Required Library State for Repairs

Adding, removing, and replacing library components usually requires you to power 
OFF the library. There are a few components, however, that you can service without 
powering OFF the library. Instead, you may need only to take the library offline or 
you may not need to impact the status of the library at all.

Table 9-2 shows the state that the library must be in before you service each part.

For information on powering the library ON/OFF or taking the library online/
offline, see:
• “Taking the Library Offline/Online” on page 7-23
• “Powering Down/Restarting the Library” on page 7-24

Required Tools

Servicing the library requires the following tools:
• #1 (short handle) and #2 Phillips screwdrivers
• 2 mm hexagonal wrench (Allen key)
• Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Kit (73G5518)
• Safety goggles
• Gloves (optional)
• Ethernet crossover cable

Preparing the Library for Repairs

If necessary, take the library offline.
