compliance

 

by

 

the

 

modem,

 

the

 

Public

 

Switched

 

Telephone

 

Network

 

(PSTN)

 

and

 

the

 

Internet

 

Service

 

Provider

 

(ISP).

 

This

 

modem

 

may

 

not

 

handle

 

Modem

 

on

 

Hold

 

correctly

 

when

 

connected

 

to

 

the

 

Telecom

 

New

 

Zealand

 

PSTN

 

even

 

when

 

it

 

is

 

loaded

 

with

 

the

 

correct

 

V.92

 

software.

 

If

 

problems

 

occur

 

with

 

the

 

operation

 

of

 

Modem

 

on

 

Hold

 

do

 

not

 

report

 

them

 

to

 

the

 

Telecom

 

Fault

 

Service

 

or

 

a

 

charge

 

may

 

be

 

imposed

 

on

 

the

 

customer.

 

This

 

equipment

 

is

 

not

 

capable,

 

under

 

all

 

operating

 

conditions,

 

of

 

correct

 

operation

 

at

 

the

 

higher

 

speeds

 

for

 

which

 

it

 

is

 

designed.

 

Telecom

 

will

 

accept

 

no

 

responsibility

 

should

 

difficulties

 

arise

 

in

 

such

 

circumstances.

 

This

 

condition

 

typically

 

applies

 

to

 

56

 

kbit/s

 

modems

 

and

 

facsimile

 

machines

 

operating

 

at

 

>14.4

 

Kbit/s.

 

This

 

equipment

 

may

 

not

 

provide

 

for

 

the

 

effective

 

hand-over

 

of

 

a

 

call

 

to

 

another

 

device

 

connected

 

to

 

the

 

same

 

line.

 

Under

 

power

 

failure

 

conditions

 

this

 

appliance

 

may

 

not

 

operate.

 

Please

 

ensure

 

that

 

a

 

separate

 

telephone,

 

not

 

dependent

 

on

 

local

 

power,

 

is

 

available

 

for

 

emergency

 

use.

 

Some

 

parameters

 

required

 

for

 

compliance

dependent

 

on
