Cabling the 5887 disk drive enclosure to an EDR1 PCIe storage enclosure that is
attached to an 8231-E1D, 8231-E2D, or 8268-E1D
Use this information as a guide for cabling your disk drive enclosure to your PCIe storage enclosure.
Note:
The 8231-E1D and 8268-E1D must be one of two systems in a high-availability configuration in
order to support a PCIe storage enclosure.
Figure 22 shows one 8231-E2D with two 5887 disk drive enclosures connected to one EDR1 PCIe storage
enclosure by using four SAS EX cables.
Note:
The IBM i operating system does not support attaching more than one 5887 disk drive enclosure to
an EDR1 PCIe storage enclosure.
Cabling the EDR1 PCIe storage enclosure to an 8246-L2T system
Use this as a guide for cabling your PCIe storage enclosure to an 8246-L2T system.
Figure 23 on page 21 shows an example of connecting an EDR1 PCIe storage enclosure to an 8246-L2T
system by using two feature code (FC) EJ0H PCIe2 GX++ adapters and two PCIe cables.
