Checking Cables

1. Ensure that your external audio device cables are connected to the correct jacks.

v

Speaker or headphones should be plugged into the line-out jack.

v

The microphone should be plugged into the microphone-in jack.

v

Other audio sources should be plugged into the line-in jack.

2. Verify that the cable from the audio adapter to the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive is connected properly.

Verifying AIX Software Installation

1. Verify that the device driver for the PCI Audio Adapter is installed as follows:

Log in as root user.

v

Type the following:

lslpp -l all | grep ’PCI Audio’

Press Enter.

2. If the PCI Audio Adapter device driver is installed, the following is an example of the data that displays

if you are running AIX Version 5.2:

3. If the PCI Audio Adapter device driver did not install, return to Chapter 3, “Installing Device Driver

Software”, on page 5. For AIX 4.3 or AIX 5.1, use the

with your adapter.

Verifying AIX Hardware Installation

1. To verify that your system unit recognized the PCI Audio Adapter, type the following:

lsdev -C | grep ’PCI Audio’

Press Enter.

2. If the PCI Audio Adapter did install, the following is an example of the data that displays on your

screen:

paud0 Available lv-08 PCI Audio Adapter

3. If the message on your screen indicates that your adapter is

Defined

instead of

Available

, shut down

your machine. Check the PCI Audio Adapter to ensure it is installed correctly.

4. If the PCI Audio Adapter did not install, return to Chapter 4, “Installing the PCI Audio Adapter”, on

page 7.

Running Diagnostics

If the PCI Audio Adapter software and hardware installation have been verified, run diagnostics. Refer to
your operating system documentation for instructions.

If you continue to experience problems, it may be necessary to call your system support organization.
