Installing a microprocessor
To install an additional microprocessor:
Attention: When you handle Electrostatic Discharge-Sensitive devices (ESD), take
precautions to avoid damage from static electricity. For details on handling these
devices, refer to the following Web site and use a search term of ESD:
http://www.ibm.com/
Note: Each microprocessor connector must contain either a terminator card or a
microprocessor.
1. Review the safety precautions listed in “Safety” on page v.
2. Turn off the server. Disconnect the signal cables; then disconnect the power cords.
3. Remove the cover.
4. Remove fan 3.
5. Remove the air baffle.
6. Remove the terminator card from the connector.
7. Install the microprocessor.
8. Install the voltage regulator module (VRM).
9. Remove the break-away section from the air baffle.
10. Install the air baffle.
11. Install fan 3.
12. Install the cover.
13. Reconnect the cables and power cords; then, turn on the server.
