SAS cable connections
The following figure and steps describe how to connect the SAS cables from a single IBM COS Small Disk
Enclosure connected to a single IBM COS Controller Node, and when to power the unit on.

1. Important: The COS Controller Node and the COS Small Disk Enclosure must be powered off before
attaching the first of the two supplied Mini-SAS HD cables.
Make the first cable connection between the far-left port on the HBA as shown in the figure, and the
far-left port on the I/O Module installed in the small disk enclosure. The second cable is connected
between the second port from the left on the HBA and the middle port on the I/O Module.
2. Power on the COS small disk enclosure.
3. Wait 3 minutes.
4. Proceed to power on the Controller Node.
