4.11 Fuel system modifications
4.11.1 General considerations
When modifications to the fuel system of the vehicle are carried out, the use of
components supplied or approved by HMC is recommended, in order to meet quality
and performance requirements. The relevant department of HMC should be
contacted to obtain confirmation of the work carried out.
In certain situations, and always with the consent of HMC, adjustments may be made
in the fuel system, provided that:
- The operation of the fuel system is not compromised.
- The feeding conditions, such as the location of the pump or filters, are not
altered. The correct fuel dosage must be ensured.
- The material and diameter of the fuel tubes used should remain unchanged,
identical to those used as standard in original vehicles.
- The connections between the different components that make up the fuel sys
-
tem should be made with the same type of connection that is used in the vehi
-
cles from factory.
- The new mass distribution is within permissible limits.
See chapter 2.3.3 "Weight distribution".
- The tightness of the system is guaranteed under all conditions of the vehicle.
All components of the fuel system should be at an adequate and sufficient distance
from sharp edges, high temperatures or mobile elements that could damage them.
They should properly be protected if necessary.
NOTICE
For more information about HMC reference departments:
See General Book, chapter 2.4 "Contact possibilities".
ENVIRONMENT
If modifications to the fuel system are carried out incorrectly, this could cause
environmental damage.
CAUTION
- The improper modifications of the fuel system may produce a malfunction of
the engine.
- Modifications of the fuel system may result in the loss of the Registration Cer
-
tificate of the vehicle and warranty of engine operation.
- The Body Builder will be ultimately responsible for the reliability and proper
operation of the vehicle after modification work. This also applies to equip
-
ment fitted as standard of the basic vehicle.
