Removing The Element
1. Remove the four bolts

2. Remove the clamp screw

3. Take out the air cleaner cap

Washing The Element
Wash the element as follows :
1. Fill a washing pan large enough to hold the
element with a non-flammable cleaning sol-
vent

. Immerse the element in the solvent
and wash it.
2. Squeeze the element by pressing it between
the palms of both hands to remove excess
solvent. Do not twist or wring the element or it
will develop cracks.
3. Immerse the element in a separate pan filled
with 2-stroke engine oil

. Squeeze the ele-
ment to remove excess oil. Make sure that the
element remains damp with oil (but not
soaked).
Before, during, and after the clean-
ing operation, carefully examine the
element for any tears in the materi-
al. A torn element could permit dirt
and dust to pass into the engine. If
the air cleaner element is torn, it
must be replaced with a new one.
