I n st a l l i n g t h e USB Sm a r t Ca b l e D r i v e r
I f your lum inom et er cam e wit h a USB t o RS232 cable you need t o
inst all t he Syst em SURE USB Sm ar t Cable device driver. The device
driver should be inst alled when you inst all t he SureTrend software.

5.3
) . However, if needed, you can follow t he inst ruct ions
below t o inst all t he Syst em SURE USB Sm art Cable device driver.
1. I nser t t he Sm art USB cable int o an available USB port on
your com put er. I f t he cable is already connect ed t o your
com put er, rem ove t he cable and plug it in again. This will
cause Windows t o det ect t he new hardware and st art t he
“ Found New Hardware Wizard” .
2. I f t he “ Found New Hardware Wizard does not st art check t he
following:
a.
You have sufficient perm issions t o run t he wizard.
b. Verify t here are no exist ing hardware problem s in
device m anager.
c.
Verify t he Universal Plug and Play service is
running.
3. Follow t he “ Found New Hardware Wizard” st eps t o inst all t he
device driver.
4. I f your com put er is connect ed t o t he I nt ernet and you are
running Windows 7 or a lat er version, you can search t he
Microsoft Windows Updat e site for t he device drivers.
5. I f your com put er is NOT connect ed t o t he I nt ernet or you are
running Windows XP you need t o place t he SureTrend
software CD int o an available drive. The Sm art USB Cable
device drivers are locat ed on t he CD. I nst ruct t he “ Found
New Hardware Wizard” t o search t he CD when prom pt ed.
N OTE: t he USB drivers are Windows cert ified for Windows XP,
Windows Vist a, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
