6 - Systems Troubleshooting
This section describes the standard troubleshooting procedures in the following areas:
engine
Vacuum System
EngInE
The engine will not turn over
1.
Possible Cause
Solution
1.1.
A loose or corroded
battery terminal.
Clean and tighten the battery terminal connections.
1.2. The battery is dead.
Recharge or replace the battery. Test the charging
system. Repair if necessary.
Do not attempt to jump start the truckmount
from a running vehicle. The amperage output
from an automobile will damage the charging
system of the truckmount.
1.3.
The main fuse is blown.
Check the main fuse.
If the fuse is blown, inspect the electrical system
for worn or shorted wires. Repair or replace as
necessary.
1.4.
The vacuum blower has
seized.
Attempt to turn the coupler by hand. If it will not
turn refer to the Vacuum System Troubleshooting
Subsection.
1.5. The ignition switch is
faulty.
Test to see if there is power both to and from the
switch.
1.6. The starter solenoid is
faulty.
Test to see if there is power to solenoid with ignition
in "START" position.
1.7.

The starter motor is
faulty.
Test to see if there is power to the motor with the
ignition in "START" position. .
1.8. None of the above.
Refer to a qualified service technician for further
troubleshooting.
