OPERATION
TO START ENGINE
NOTE:
Due to protective coatings on the engine, a small
amount of smoke may be present during the initial use of
the product and should be considered normal.
1. Be sure fuel valve is in the ON po si tion (Figure 17).
2. To start a cold engine, move handle mounted throttle/
choke con trol le ver to CHOKE position.
3. To start engine, pull starter handle quickly. Do not
allow starter rope to snap back.
4. Slowly move handle mounted throttle/choke con trol
le ver to FAST position after engine starts.
• To start a warm engine, move handle mounted throttle/
choke con trol le ver to FAST position, then follow steps
above.
NOTE:
Allow a cold engine to warm up for one minute
before starting the blade. See “BLADE CONTROL” in this
section of this manual.

TO EMPTY GRASS CATCHER
1. Lift up on grass catcher using the frame han dle
(Figure 18).
2. Remove grass catcher with clippings from under lawn
mower han dle.
3. Empty clippings from bag using both frame handle
and bag handle.
NOTE
: Do not drag the bag when emptying; it will cause
unnecessary wear.
CAUTION: Do not run your lawn mower without
rear door closed or ap proved grass catch er
or clipping deflector in place. Nev er at tempt
to op er ate the lawn mow er with the rear door
re moved or propped open.
