Note:
During this procedure, there can be
movement of the drive wheels.
a) Push the forward drive pedal to the full forward
position and keep it pushed down for 5 seconds
before you release it.
b) Push the reverse drive pedal to the full reverse
position and keep it pushed down for 5 seconds
before you release it.
6. Stop the engine and engage the parking brake.
7. Put the freewheel control in the engaged position.

8. Sit in the seat and start the engine. When the engine
has started, move the throttle control to the half
speed position.
9. Disengage the parking brake.
10. Operate the product forward for approximately 5
ft (1.5 m) then rearward for 5 ft (1.5 m). Do this
procedure 3 times.

The engine does not start.
There is no fuel in the fuel tank.
Fill the fuel tank.
The throttle control is not in the cor-
rect position.
Refer to the start instructions.
The spark plug is defective.
Replace the spark plug.
The air filter is dirty.
Clean or replace the air filter.
The fuel filter is clogged.
Replace the fuel filter.
There is water in the fuel.
Remove all fuel from the fuel tank
and the carburetor. Fill the fuel tank
with new fuel and replace the fuel fil-
ter.
The wires are loose or damaged.
Do a check of all wires.
The engine valves are not adjusted
correctly.
Speak to an approved service agent.
The engine is flooded.
Wait 2–3 minutes before you try to
start the engine again.
The fuel in the fuel tank is bad.
Replace the fuel in the fuel tank.
