4. Continue lifting the client. It may be
necessary to lower the bed slightly. Raise
the client’s legs slightly while turning him/
her away from the bed. It is a good idea to
put your arm around the client while you
are moving him/her to create a greater
sense of security.

The sling may be too large.

The sling is not correctly fitted - the length of the loops should be
stretched at the same time.
The client is unbalanced when lifted

The instructions on the individual test log have not been followed or
a new assessment needs to be carried out.
The sling is too small
•
This can be uncomfortable for the client. The sling can cut into the
client’s flesh and/or his/her back may not have enough support.
Note: It is important that the right sling is used for each client and that it is individually tested to
ensure that it meets the client’s need and the transfer situation.
