The Ethernet ports of the S3100 series switches have the following characteristics:

The 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet ports support MDI/MDI-X autosensing. By manual

configuration or autonegotiation, they can operate in 100 Mbps

half-duplex/full-duplex or 10 Mbps half-duplex/full-duplex.

The 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet ports support manual MDI/MDI-X configuration.

By manual configuration or autonegotiation, they can operate in 1000 Mbps

full-duplex, 100 Mbps half-duplex/full-duplex and 10 Mbps half-duplex/full-duplex.

1.1.2 Link Types of Ethernet Ports

An Ethernet port of the S3100 switch can operate in three different link types:

Access: An access port can belong to only one VLAN, and is generally used to

connect user PCs.
