Important environmental information about this product
This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of the device after its lifecycle could harm
the environment.
Do not dispose of the unit (or batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it should be taken to a specialised
company for recycling.
This device should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling service.
Respect the local environmental rules.
If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.
Thank you for buying a Velleman product! Please read the manual thoroughly before bringing this device into service. If
the device was damaged in transit, don't install or use it and contact your dealer.
With this inverter you can connect devices, which are normally connected to the mains, to a battery. The inverter
converts the battery voltage into a voltage comparable to the mains voltage (modified). They are very practical for
use in a car, boat or vans.
2. General Guidelines
•
Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and the dealer
will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.
•
Make sure the batteries are completely charged. A low battery voltage will be indicated by the red LED to light
and a sound signal. In this case, disconnect the inverter from the battery and charge the battery.
•
Always switch off the inverter when starting the car or van. Starting the car will cause the battery to produce a
peak voltage which can be harmful to the inverter.
•
The inverter is internally protected against short-circuits, overload, inversed polarisation and overheating.
•
The inverter will cut off the output in case of technical problems. Switch off the inverter immediately and break off
all connections. Check the connected device.
•
Install the inverter in a well-ventilated place.
•
Do not expose the inverter to direct sunshine or heat sources.
•
Keep the device away from children.
•
Keep the device away from water and humidity, oils, grease and inflammable products.
•
Let the inverter cool down after a prolonged or heavy use.
•
In case of an overload, the auto-restart function will automatically switch on the inverter as soon as the overload
has disappeared.
•
Let the engine cool down for 10 to 20 minutes after a 2 to 3 hour use of the inverter. Switch off the inverter FIRST.
•
Make sure not to exceed the input voltage (see “Technical Specifications”).
•
When connecting the inverter with audio equipment, it is possible to hear noise through the speakers. This is not
due to a faulty inverter. Cheaper audio devices are generally equipped with inferior noise filters. The inverter
produces its signal at a high frequency and this high frequency signal can be equal to the audio signal. You can
correct this by placing a decent filter.
•
The inverter can easily be connected to a car battery. For more power demanding equipment we recommend
using a traction battery. These batteries are designed to supply a large amount of power during a longer period.
Be aware that an inverter delivering 2000W will be drawing around 160A from the battery.
•
Use batteries with an identical electric charge (Ah) when connecting various batteries (in parallel).
•
Select the correct input voltage when using the device – overload can cause damage. This damage will not be
covered by the warranty.
