Taking Pictures and Recording Video Clips
•
Set the camera on a tripod or stable surface.
•
Turn on more light.
•
If the scene is backlit or the subject is very dark or light
compared to the background, set
AE Metering
to
Spot
(see page 75).
•
Use a
Self-Timer
setting. Follow the instructions in
Using
the Self-Timer Settings
on page 59, but press the
Shutter
button all the way down and remove your hands from the
camera. The camera waits 10 seconds before locking
focus and exposure, eliminating any possibility of you
shaking the camera.
Other Recommendations
If an image does not appear to be in proper focus or
exposure when you review it in
Playback
, use
Image Advice
(see page 92) to help you determine how to correct the
problem for similar images in the future. If you can retake an
image, you can follow the suggestions in

improve the image you capture.
