MPE
treats
an
input/output
device
as
a
le
with
a
standard
name.
F
or
example,
$STDLIST
is
the
name
of
the
standard
output
le
for
b oth
session
and
job
mo
des.
A
le
is
equated
to
a
device
class
whic
h
may
b e
a
line
prin
ter,
terminal,
disc,
or
other
p eripheral
device.
$STDLIST
is
normally
equated
to
a
terminal
in
session
mo
de
and
to
a
line
prin
ter
in
job
mo
de.
The
system
manager
denes
the
v
arious
device
classes
and
sets
up
the
corresp ondence
b et

een
device
classes
and
standard
les.
QUER
Y
uses
a

named
QSLIST
to

to
alter

normal
output
device
to
an

other
output
device.
