4. Connect the Hub to a Power Source
1.
Plug the included power cord into the hub’s power connector and into a
nearby AC power source.
2.
Re-check the LEDs during self test. See “LED Behavior” on page 2-5.
For power precautions, see the section, “Installation Precautions” earlier in
this chapter. The HP 10/100 hubs do not have a power switch. They are
powered on when the power cord is connected to the hub and to a power
source.
5. Some Basic Troubleshooting
Condition
Diagnostic Tip
Port LED is
still off when
a cable is
connected
Try the following:
• For the indicated port, verify that both ends of the cabling, at the hub and
the connected device, are snug.
• Verify the connected device and hub are both powered
on and operating
correctly.
• Verify that you have used the correct cable type for the connection. Twisted-
pair cable connections, in general, for connecting to an end node, use
“straight-through” cable; for connecting to switches or other hubs, use
“crossover” cable.
• Verify that the attached device is Autonegotiation capable or, if not, that it
is not full-duplex.
• Try using a different port or a different cable.
