Before removing the bottom cover, follow these steps:

1.

Prepare the computer for disassembly (

Preparation for disassembly on page 29

).

2.

Place the computer in Battery Safe mode (

Battery Safe mode on page 29

).

Remove the bottom cover:

1.

Loosen the five captive Phillips screws (1).

NOTE:

It is possible to remove the captive screws.

2.

Remove the two Phillips M2.0 × 5.0 screws (2) that secure the bottom cover to the computer.

3.

Starting under the display, use a nonconductive, nonmarking tool to pry the cover up (3), and then 
remove the cover from the computer (4).

Reverse these procedures to install the bottom cover.
