6 Peripheral Connections

Backplane

Backplane

The minitower backplane supports two 16-bit ISA (Industry Standard Architecture) cards and two 32-bit PCI
(Peripheral Component Interconnect) cards, and has two combination slots for an ISA or PCI card. The six expansion
card slots are arranged as follows:

•

Slot 1 (the innermost) - Combination slot that can be used for a short 16-bit ISA card or a 32-bit PCI card.

•

Slot 2 - can be used for a 32-bit PCI card.

•

Slot 3 - can be used for a 32-bit PCI card.

•

Slot 4 - Combination slot that can be used for a full-length 16-bit ISA card or a 32-bit PCI card.

•

Slot 5 - can be used for a full-length 16-bit ISA card.

•

Slot 6 - can be used for a full-length 16-bit ISA card.

Depending on the computer you have purchased, one or more of the PCI and ISA slots could be already used. The
following table shows the expansion card slots used and the type of preinstalled card.
