Port-Specific
Variables
(LaserJet 4PJ Only)
The following variable is I/O port-specific in the HP
LaserJet 4PJ printer, and can be set and requested using
PJL. This variable must be set using the IPARM : port
option. For the HP LaserJet 4PJ, the valid values for port
are SERIAL and PARALLEL.

PERSONALITY
Personality for implicit switching (implicit
switching refers to switching to the default
personality without explicitly doing so with the
@PJL ENTER command). Note that the value
string (PCL, ESCP, and so on) for each
installed personality is defined by the
personality itself. When the personality is
changed, memory is reconfigured and all
downloaded fonts and PCL macros are lost
(however, no I/O data is lost). Refer to
“Commands that Affect Printer Memory” in
Appendix A.
