3. Blood sample collection

for collection requirements. Blood samples must
be gently and thoroughly mixed with a rocking or tilting motion just before placing the sample
into the tube holder for the analysis cycle.

All blood samples should be collected using proper technique.
4. Sample identification menu

Once user is logged in, the "
Sample identification
" menu is displayed.
◆
The "
Sample identification
" menu is composed of text fields intended for entering sample
information.

The patient type is selected by using radio buttons. "
Man
" is selected by default.
◆
If there is unwanted data already entered into those fields, press "
Reset
" button (
) to
delete this information. All fields will be cleared except "
Sample ID
" if automatic identification
option is activated (See Section 6,
6.6. Identification option, page 6-14

The "
OK
" button is used to validate sample identification. If the instrument is locked, this button
is disable.

When collecting blood specimens, venous blood is recommended, but
arterial blood may also be used in extreme cases. Samples must be placed in
a vacuum or atmospheric collection tubes.

For additional information on collecting venous and capillary blood
samples, refer to NCCLS document H3-A4 (June 1998) and NCCLS document
H4-A5 (June 2004).

The sample collection tube has to be filled to the exact quantity of blood
indicated on the tube itself. Any incorrectly measured blood sample
collections will show a possible variation in the results.

If "
Reset
" button is pressed, a sampling needle reinitialization is also carried
out (up and down movement).
In "Closed Tube" version, this button also allows to open the tube holder door
if it was unawares closed and remains blocked.
