Some backup media may change the files to “read
only” and may require an additional step of chang-
ing the “Attributes” within the file properties to make
them usable.
Empty databases for the Event, Concentration and
ChemCam databases can be found in the Databases
folder on the Vertex M Technical Manual CD.

5.11 Optics Cleaning

Required equipment:
• Compressed air
Note:
Do not use “canned air” near Pyrolyzer gas based
detectors, the halogenated gasses may trigger
alarms. Instead, use N
2
or a compressed source that
is free of oils and contaminants.
• Open the Optics Block Gate
• Remove the Chemcassette
®
• Open the Vertex M side panel
• Remove tubing (shown in photo) one at the
time and blow out with compressed air.
• Re-secure side panel and reload

Note:
Remove and clean one port at a time to insure
proper orientation of tubing. Do not remove the capil-
lary tubing (microtubes).
CAUTION
Failure to replace and retighten hardware after service can
adversely affect monitor performance and electromagnetic
radiation compliance (EMC). Make certain all fasteners are
reinstalled and firmly fastened.

at a time for cleaning
