Functional Description

 (continued)

Switching off the power supply

If  the  accumulator  voltage  drops

below  10.5  V

  during

accumulator operation, the power supply to the control panel
and the external users is switched off (switch-off relay).

This avoids unforeseeable reactions from the control panel on
the  one  hand,  and  protects  the  accumulator  from  deep
discharging on the other.

A  "!U_bat<"  signal  is  given  before  switch  off  (See  below  for
description).

Collective faults:

The messages are transmitted via the outputs

- "Fault" (ST100/3), HIGH active and

- "Fault" (ST100/2), LOW active.

The following fault

causes

are possible:

Mains / ext. user / charger controller defective /

accum. defective or missing / SE input

The type of fault can be determined by the LEDs on the power
supply PCB.

With the DIP switch S100 certain fault causes can be switched
to  the  collective  fault  output  (see  Chapter  7  "Connection  Dia-
gram").

Fault U_ext.

(ST100/7), output, LOW active.

This output is active when there is a fault in the user outputs.

Fault SE

 (ST100/1), input, LOW active.

For connecting "Fault" outputs of additional emergency power
supplies (cascading).

Mains

(ST100/6), output, HIGH active.

This output is active during power on.

!U_bat<:

(ST100/8), output, LOW active.

Switch-off warning

This  output  warns  of  the  impending  switch-off  of  the  power
supply.
The output is set when the accum. voltage drops

below 10.8 V.

A  corresponding  message  can  be  transmitted  e.g.  via  an
AWUG.

U_bat <10.5 V

 (ST104/2), output, HIGH active.

This  output  is  transmitted  when  the  power  supply  (U_bat
<10.5 V) is switched off.

TEST

(ST104/1), input, LOW active.

This input allows a function test of the output U_bat <10.5 V
(ST104/2) by applying a 0 V potential. LD3 must light up.

Attention

It only is permitted to switch the input "Test" to the
0 V potential.

Do not apply a HIGH potential.

RESET key

For  the  initial  start-up  procedure,  the  mains  voltage  must
be  available  so  that  the  switch-off  relay  is  energized  and
the voltage is connected to the power supply output.

The reset key is necessary, when the power supply unit requires
operating without mains (e.g. for test purposes).
The reset key is used for energizing the switch-off relay.

  5.   Set charge terminating voltage

1.  The  power  supply  must  have  reached  operating  temper-

ature.

For this purpose it must be operated for at least two hours
at rated load and with closed housing.

2.  Connect a

charged accumulator

.

A  not  completely  charged  accumulator  leads  to  a  miss-
alignment.

3.  Adjust the voltage at the accumulator terminals using the

potentiometer  PO100  according  to  the  ambient
temperature at the accumulator as per the following table.

Please take note of the type of accumulator.

ATTENTION:

Only alter the charge terminating voltage:

1.  After measuring the exact temperature and

2.  When the voltage deviates >200 mV from the set value as

per following table.

  6.   External NTC thermistor resistor

Item no.  010693

When using an external NTC thermistor resistor, the wire jumper
DB102 must be debridged.

The  external  NTC  should  be  fixed  to  the  accumulator  in  a
suitable manner (e.g. with double-sided adhesive tape) and
connected by soldering to the bore holes.

Note:

Basically,  we  recommend  using  an  external  NTC

thermistor resistor.

If  the  accumulator  is  not  in  the  close  vicinity  of  the
NTC100,  an  external  NTC  thermistor  resistor  must
be used.
