Adjusting the Front Brake Lever Freeplay

Adjusting the Front Brake Lever

Freeplay

Adjust the freeplay of the brake lever with the

front wheel pointed straight ahead.

Upper Adjustment

Attempt adjustment with upper brake cable

adjuster first.

Pull back the rubber dust cover.

Loosen the upper lock nut.

Turn the front brake cable adjuster until the

freeplay is 10 to 20 mm (0.4 to 0.8 in).

Tighten the upper lock nut and check the

freeplay again.

Install the rubber dust cover.

Lower Adjustment

If the upper brake cable adjuster is threaded

out near its limit, or the correct freeplay

cannot be obtained, attempt adjustment with

the lower brake adjuster.

Make sure the cut-out on the adjusting nut is

seated on the brake arm pin when adjusting

the freeplay.

If proper adjustment cannot be obtained by

this method, see your dealer.
