6. Checking the spark plug
The spark plug may gather carbon deposits on its firing
end with reasonable use. Remove and inspect the spark
plug every 25 hours and clean the electrodes as
necessary with a wire brush. For the correct spark plug
gap, please refer to the engine manufacturer’s
recommendations. If the gap is too wide or too narrow,
adjust it. Plug manufacturers recommend replacing the
plug twice a year to avoid unexpected plug failure.
Re-sharpening the cutter blade
CAUTION
The star blade (4 teeth) and eddy blade (8 teeth) cutting tools
must only be re-sharpened by an authorized facility. Manual
re-sharpening will result in an imbalance of the cutting tool
causing vibration and damage to the equipment.
If in doubt, replace blade or consult your local dealer.
SELECTION OF ROTARY CUTTERS
Select the blade best suited to the purpose:
Cutter type
Application
2 line nylon cutter
soft and low weeds
3 blade cutter
relatively low weeds
4 blade cutter
relatively low weeds
8 blade cutter
relatively hard weeds
Use only BS 7113 approved blades
WARNING:
to avoid serious injury
DO NOT
cut wood and twigs with 3-toothed blade, 4-toothed
blade or 8-toothed blade.
If in doubt, consult your local dealer for advice.
