7. TRANSPORTING/STORAGE - continued
Fuel
Petrol will oxidize and deteriorate overtime when stored. Old petrol will cause
hard starting and it leaves gum deposits that clog the fuel system. If the petrol
in your mower deteriorates during storage, you may need to have the
carburetor and other fuel system components serviced or replaced.
The length of time that petrol can be left in your fuel tank and carburetor
without causing functional problems will vary with such factors as petrol blend,
your storage temperatures and whether the fuel tank is partially or completely
filled. The air in a partially filled fuel tank promotes fuel deterioration. Very
warm storage temperatures accelerate fuel deterioration. Fuel deterioration
problems may occur within 30 days or even less if the petrol was not fresh
when you filled the fuel tank.
The Warranty does not cover fuel system damage or engine performance
problems resulting from neglected storage preparation.
You can avoid fuel deterioration problems by draining the fuel tank and
carburetor.
NOTICE
Petrol spoils very quickly depending on factors such as light exposure,
temperature and time.
In worst cases, petrol can be contaminated within 30 days.
Using contaminated petrol can seriously damage the engine (carburetor
clogged, sticking valves).
Such damage due to spoiled fuel is not warrantable.
To avoid this please strictly follow these recommendation:
Only use specified petrol (see page 50).
Use fresh and clean petrol.
To slow deterioration, keep petrol in a certified fuel container.
If long storage (more than 30 days) is foreseen, drain fuel tank and
carburetor (see page 39).
