10 EN
DRIVE CLUTCH LEVER CLEARANCE
Measure the clearance [1] at
the tip of the lever [2] when
completely released.
The clearance must be between:
IF NECESSARY:
1. Undo the lock nuts [3] with a 10 mm
spanner.
2. Move the nuts [3] up or down as
necessary.
3. Tighten the nuts and check the
clearance again.
SHIFT LEVER ADJUSTMENT
1. Put the shift lever [4] in the fastest
position.
2. Undo the lock nuts [5] with a 10 mm
spanner.
3. Tighten or undo the nuts [5] so as to
obtain a clearance of between
1.5 mm and 6.5 mm at the clutch
lever [6], then tighten the nuts.
4. Start the engine and check that the
minimum and maximum speeds
correspond to the following values:
Minimum = 0 ~ 0.2 m/s
Maximum = 1.3 m/s at an engine speed
of 2 800 min
-1
.
SHIFT LEVER ADJUSTMENT
Pull the shift lever [7] back completely
and release it. It should position itself
opposite the “1” on the control cover.
If necessary:
1. Undo the lock nuts [8] using a
10 mm spanner and tighten/undo
the tensioner [9] as required.
2. Tighten the lock nuts and check the
alignment.
3. Check that the lever moves freely.
4. Start the engine and check that the
gears “1”, “2” and “3” engage
correctly.
Readjust if necessary.
CUTTING MEANS FITTING AND
REMOVAL
CUTTING MEANS REMOVAL
1. Place the throttle control lever in
“STOP” position.
2. Close the fuel shut-off valve and drain the carburettor.
3. Tip the lawnmower so that the carburettor faces upwards.
NOTE:
Never tip the lawnmower so that the carburettor faces down;
this will make starting difficult.
4. Remove the cutting-
means [11] bolts [14]
with a 14 mm [13]
socket spanner. Use
a block of wood to
prevent the cutting
means from turning
when undoing the
bolts.
5. Remove the cutting
means from the
cutting-means
holder [12] together with the block.
CUTTING MEANS SHARPENING
1. Sharpen the cutting means cutting
edges with a file. File the top side
only. Maintain the original bevel for a
fine cutting edge. File both ends
evenly to maintain cutting means's
balance.
2. After sharpening, test the cutting
means's balance using a
screwdriver as shown. If either side
dips slightly below the horizontal, file
that side. Replace the cutting means if it dips excessively.
CAUTION:
• Cutting means's balance is critical to proper lawnmower performance.
Replace any cutting means that is damaged or out of balance.
• Use only a genuine Honda replacement cutting means or
equivalent.
