OPERATION
STARTING THE ENGINE
To prevent a possible fire, keep the generator at least 3 feet (1 meter) away from
building or trailer walls, vehicles, trailers, boats, and other equipment during
operation. Do not place flammable objects close to the engine or exhaust.
• Operating this generator less than 3 feet (1 meter) from a building, obstruction, or
when it is in an enclosure, a storage or security compartment/bay, can cause
overheating and damage the generator or your property.
• For proper cooling, allow at least 3 feet (1 meter) of empty space above and
around the generator.
Keep all cooling holes open and clear of debris, mud, water, etc. Cooling holes are
located on the side panel, the control panel, and the bottom of the generator. If
the cooling holes are blocked, the generator may overheat and damage the
engine, inverter, or windings.
• Since the CO-MINDER® may detect the carbon monoxide concentration and the
engine may stop automatically, pay attention to the direction of exhaust and
where the generator is located (see page 22).
Refer to "SAFE OPERATING PRECAUTIONS" on page 37 and perform the "IS YOUR
GENERATOR READY TO GO?" checks (see page 32).
Refer to "AC OPERATION" (see page 42) for connecting loads to the generator.
1. Make sure that all appliances are disconnected from the AC receptacle.
2. Turn the engine switch to the ON
position.
